[07/06/2010] Safety
Working on ladders can be dangerous and accidents do happen: in order to increase safety, a few simple rules should be followed:
- The ladder should be leaned at an angle of fifteen degrees since steeper angle can cause the ladder to topple backwards while shallower angle can cause the ladder to slip
- When working on ladders, work that imposes side loading should be avoided
- Carrying items when climbing a ladder should be avoided and tool belts used instead
- Additional safety devices against slipping, falling, or overloading should be used when appropriate
